The Marigold started with a pretty crazy idea to build a greenhouse from the ground up and turn it into a photography space. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when we started, but somehow we figured it out. Since then, it’s become a place where photographers come to create, families make memories, people celebrate big moments and I get to constantly come up with new ideas for the space.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I really love taking something that has potential and figuring out how to make it beautiful. Apparently the greenhouse wasn’t enough, because now we’re renovating a house built in 1900 too. I share all of it. The greenhouse, the renovations, the DIY projects, the things that work and definitely the things that don’t.
Whether you’re here to book the greenhouse, follow the house renovation, get an idea for your own home or just see what we decide to tear apart next, I’m glad you’re here.

Hi, I’m Allison!
I’m the owner of The Marigold.

Our Values

I love old things and spaces that actually have some personality. I’d much rather work with what makes a place special than make everything look brand new.

Keep The Character

Whether it’s a greenhouse setup, a room in an old house or a random DIY idea I decided to try, I love finding ways to make a space feel special.

Make It Beautiful

I love a pretty finished space, but I’m also going to show you what it took to get there. The mess, the mistakes and all.

Keep It Real

The Marigold has grown because of the photographers, families, local businesses and people who continue to support it. I want it to always feel like a place people are excited to come back to.

In the past 10 years I truly dont think we've photographed a location that literally gives me butterflies. Seeing the photos of The Marigold was one thing but the excitement you feel once pulling in is on a whole different level. The ambiance is breathtaking, the meticulous details are truly a photographers dream, and whats better than a host thats truly a gem!

Testimonials

The Marigold started as a crazy idea and came together through inspiration, sketches, lots of decisions along the way, and quite a bit of figuring things out as we went. So I decided to take everything I do have and everything I wish I had known before we started, and put it all in one place.

This 16-page digital guide gives you an inside look at exactly how we created our 800 square foot, 20' × 40' greenhouse photography studio.
